The deep resonating coo of the Pied Imperial Pigeons alerted me to their presence in the tall tree outside my bedroom window this afternoon.
With the onset of the tropical monsoon, the ducks have come to the local park. I have seen them often out on the wetlands, but never this close (about 500 metres) to home.
As you can see I didn’t venture too close. Below is a better pic, on the local golf course from a couple of years ago.
Early in the morning there was a clatter of agitated bird chatter outside my bedroom window. In the large tree on the verge, a brown goshawk was being bombarded by mudlarks and honeyeaters, in an attempt to drive it away.
